Through the Family Connections model they are to help strengthen families, stabilize and maintain family functioning.   Under the direction of the Social Work Supervisor, the case planner shall serve as the primary service provider. The model requires great time flexibility, as we meet with the entire family system most of the time. Therefore workers must make themselves available when the families are. FF-CM is an intensive, family-focused, case management approach that is designed to motivate and link families to resources and services to address referral behaviors and family risk factors. FF-CM is based on the same principles of the evidence-based FFT therapeutic approach: relational-based, strength-based, and respect-based. A key difference, however, is that the FF-CM service is focused on creating linkages to existing community resources to facilitate change.   Interventionists first engage families into the change process and motivate them to connect to services. The second part of the process involves Supporting and Monitoring families as they participate in services. Finally, interventionists help the families to Generalize gains and new skills by locking in these changes and planning for the future. The goal of the implementation of the FF-CM model is to increase the engagement of young adults into therapeutic services, namely Functional Family Therapy.

The target population of young adults (16-25 years old), who are referred to us after an arrest. Rising Ground is participating in a pilot program to offer FFT to families and young people who might otherwise find themselves incarcerated without this alternative. FFT is an evidence-based model which is home-based, intensive, family therapy. The FFT Therapist participates in all FFT training and consultation activities, and program reviews. In addition to providing Family Therapy, the FFT Therapist will collaborate with other service providers, including but not limited to the Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice (MOCJ) and New York City Criminal Justice Agency (CJA). The FFT Therapist is required to complete all FFT documentation requirements, including meeting appropriate therapeutic and engagement requirements and assessing for family safety and risk.

The Training and model Coordinator provides ongoing opportunities for professional development, tracking all certifications and facilitating various training for the department. They serve as the link between JYF and the Training Department by working closely with the training director and those delivering trainings to the JYF employees. The Training and Model Coordinator will develop extensive plans for implementing and ensuring the fidelity of treatment models that utilize the Missouri Model, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Trauma Focused- Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT), and/or their components. The Training and Model Coordinator will work in a multidisciplinary team ( JYF VP, Divisional Director of Social Services and Community Programs and Director of Operations) and will need to have strong communication and collaboration skills to support the training, fidelity, data collection and RG model implementation across all programs.

These responsibilities include streamlining the processes throughout the JYF programs including acting in a managerial capacity on-site as needed, supporting programs should a crisis arise, supporting daily program development, aiding in implementation and facilitation of program model, aiding in PEMS process, Incident Review Committee meeting (IRC), will be the backup point of contact of PREA, guiding the youth development and treatment process, and ensuring supporting site management as needed.   The JYF Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for ensuring that all direct reporting Program Directors follow protocols and ensure that subsequent supervision documentation, staff training; and safety drills are completed in a timely manner. Managerial Oversight is a critical component of ensuring effective programming in all our Juvenile Justice Programs.

The Division Director ensures that all needed services for youth and family are met. He / She ensures that all programs/services meet all ACS, OCFS, courts and additional funders mandates. The Division Director provides direction, information, training, evaluation, and instruction to their respective division while also supporting larger department initiatives. The Division Director will work closely with divisional leadership to ensure continuity of services between residential and community programs as well as develop emerging leaders and ensure best practices continue across all programs. This position requires a motivated, energetic individual that will oversee the quality of services to children and families both in residential and the community. The ideal candidate must demonstrate problem solving and critical thinking skills as well as a strong sensitivity to cultural differences. The Division Director will ensure that all the programs are committed to providing evidence-based, culturally sensitive, trauma-informed therapeutic services to young persons, ages 12-24, and their families to prevent further involvement in the juvenile and criminal legal systems in New York City. The Division Director is a critical part of the department leadership team and must be able to work in a multidisciplinary team.

MST addresses the multiple factors known to be related to juvenile justice involvement across the key settings, or systems, within which youth are embedded (i.e. family, peers, school, neighborhood). MST starts this process by initiating treatment for the youth and the family while the youth is still in placement. MST therapists strive to promote behavior change in the youth’s natural environment using the strengths of each system to facilitate change. The MST model promotes personal responsibility, education, work ethic, community responsibility and an intolerance of violence and prejudice.
