The Vocational Academy and CDOS program of the Biondi Educational Center is looking to recruit an experienced plumber to teach Middle and High School students in their newly created Vocational Academy. Under the general direction of the Vocational Academy and Career Development and Occupational Studies (CDOS) Director, the plumbing teacher shall teach plumbing classes and conduct plumbing practical/hands-on workshops. The plumbing teacher will be expected to have good knowledge and experience of plumbing and be familiar with the current NYS CTE plumbing curriculum. The general responsibilities are: develop syllabus and coursework for classroom work in the field of study, instruct students in the classroom and teach hands-on skills, and promote a safe and conducive learning environment. Conduct administrative and classwork evaluation in accordance with New York State CTE requirements. Meet with Vocational Academy Director, Job Coach, school personnel and students as needed.
Qualified candidate must have a valid current New York State professional plumbing license with a minimum of three to five years of on-the-job experience, Master plumber preferred. Successful candidate will be a NYS certified Career and Technical Education (CTE) plumbing instructor or be willing to complete the CTE coursework within 6 months of hire. Familiarity with the Codes and technical standards of the plumbing trade and the ability to apply these correctly are essential to this position.
