  • Responsibilities

    • Preparation of aging schedule
    • Prepare special projects as needed
    • Effectively work with peers towards problem resolution
    • Other duties as assigned by Billing Supervisor/CFO/Controller
    • Work in collaboration with Supervisor to identify billing trends
    • Provide analysis, follow-up, and resolution of all billing related matters
    • Prepare monthly business indicators for each of the Manage Care Outpatient programs
    • Overall responsibility for accurate and timely billing of all Medicaid and Managed Care program
    • Preparation of billing claims using 837i institutional claim form process or by paper UB04. If necessary, using Ambulatory Patient Group (APG) rate code, CPT procedure codes, modifier code combinations, and Unites of Service for Medicaid Managed Care Mental Health clinic outpatient billing
    • Maintenance of Coding Master document for staff members to use to cross walk from the service provided to the proper billing code
    • Ensures appropriate billing set ups of health insurance profiles in Electronic Medical Record for all individuals supported in the Article 31 clinic


    • Data Entry, Reporting, Organization, and Documentation skills
    • Knowledge of CPT and ICD-IO terminology
    • Adequate knowledge of federal and New York State health care insurance regulations
    • Adequate knowledge of Managed Care, Medicaid, Medicare and electronic claims payments and billing processes
    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or business form a four-year college or university
    • Certification of Billing and Coding (ex. Certified Professional Coder (CPC) or Certified Medical Biller)
    • Two to five years related experience, preferably with Non-Profit organization or agency
    • Experience working with Billing clearinghouses
    • Knowledge of working with EHRs
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office and electronic claims billing software
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as New York State Office of Mental Health guidelines and to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization
    • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
    • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and statistical data to practical situations
