  • Overview

    The Sr. Accountant will be primarily responsible for preparing and filing the CFR cost report, monitoring spending as per budgets and reimbursement guidelines, and projecting rates of reimbursement. The Senior Accountant manages the A-133 (Single Audit) and other related compliance requirements. This individual also will act as a fiscal manager responsible for multiple state and city funded programs.


    • Work with Senior Accountants to ensure completion of all required schedules.
    • Assist with period closing and preparation of schedules and supporting documents.
    • A-133 (Single Audit) - Monitor grants comprising federal pass-through funding and ascertain if the grant expenditures are in compliance with circular A-133 (Single Audit). Prepare Schedule of Expenditure of Federal Awards (SEFA) along with acquiring timely confirmations and supporting work papers for submission to auditors for certification and filing of audit in federal audit clearinghouse.
    • CFR - Prepare work papers and supporting documentation for independent auditors which includes CFR schedules CFR -1, 2,3, 4, 4A, 6 and supplemental schedules SED-1 & 4. Input them into CFR software to extract a CFR with a valid document control number. Respond to inquiries from independent auditors as well as NYSED and NYSOPWDD in justification to various entries in the CFR software. Prepare year-round reports with 70/30 analysis for agency management to ascertain if expenditures meet the reimbursement threshold and for rate maximization analysis for school and preschool rates. 
    • Serve as fiscal manager for select programs (Preventive & NSP). Responsibilities include working with program directors to prepare budgets and monitor expenses, as well as preparing and submitting monthly vouchers and all required financial reports.
    • Perform other financial projects as assigned by CFO.


    • Strong verbal and written skills
    • Experience with HHS Accelerator a plus
    • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Bachelor of Science or higher degree in Accounting
    • In depth knowledge of funding for OPWDD programs and both 853 and 4410 schools
    • Hands-on working with Microsoft Great Plain Dynamics and other financial accounting software
    • Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills when dealing with internal and external personnel
    • At least 10 years of hands-on experience in preparation of CFR, A133 (Single Audit), Contract Management and Billing, and supporting schedules
    • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results
