The Unaccompanied Alien Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government.  Working in collaboration with the Federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, the POH program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 439 youth as well as Therapeutic and Educational Services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well s link them with family members and/or sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive. 

Responsibilities

The Teacher’s Assistant will support the Teacher in the review and implementation of the academic curriculum.  The TA will co-facilitate academic instruction as needed and will serve as substitute teacher in the absence of the Teacher.

Qualifications

  • One year experience providing educational services to youth who present behavioral, educational, and emotional challenges is preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with progression towards ENL extension or in pathways to receive bachelor's degree or equivalent with bilingual extension preferred
  • Bi-Lingual (Spanish/English) a must
  • Minimum Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification
  • Salary $45,827.00
