Overview

The Unaccompanied Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, the POH program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 439 youth as well as therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive.

Responsibilities

The Travel Team/ YCW will be responsible for the overall Travel escort and of the transportation needs to reunify a person supported with his/her sponsor in any State within the US.  The Travel team /YCW will also coordinate be responsible for all transportation needed for the minors during their placement in the program.  The Travel Team/YCW is responsible for providing direct services and performs various support tasks as part of the youth’s daily care, while no transportations needs are required.

 

  • Responsible for keeping children safe during transportation to activities, events, apportionments and upon release from the program. Provide therapeutic interventions as needed
  • Cover staff to child ratios as needed when transportation of kids is not needed
  • Ensures they are available for travel when notified of travel/transportation needs of minors
  • Ensures that all travel needs planned, organized are executed in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • Preferred – A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university within one or a combination of the following: Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social work.
  • One or more years of work experience in residential treatment program, YMCA, schools, recreational facilities, or residential care programs; or two or more years of experience involving direct care and interaction with youth/children
  • Valid vehicle operator’s license, clean driving record a must
  • Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) a must
  • High School Diploma a must
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate travel needs

 

Salary $23.00 per hour
