Cook

Provide nutritionally appropriate and delicious meals that meet USDA standards for placement program for adjudicated youth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares all meals in accordance with nutritional plans for the consumers
  • Plans menus, prepares weekly grocery shopping lists along with needed supplies for personal hygiene and housekeeping.
  • Engages youth in food preparation as appropriate.
  • Serves, cleans, and sanitizes food preparation and serving areas.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all food storage areas. Ensures all food is stored and marked correctly.
  • Completes a weekly safety/operational check of all appliances and kitchen.
  • Removes all garbage to outside cans daily.
  • Reports all unsafe conditions.
  • Reports all incidents and any untoward actions to the consumers immediately.
  • Weekend and evening shifts.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or General Educational Diploma (GED).
  • At least two years of cooking in a residential / school program.
  • Knowledge of Child Welfare.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Able to lift objects weighing 40lbs or more.

 

Starting Salary: $19/hr.

Location: South Ozone Park
