The Shift Supervisor is responsible for ensuring Youth Counselor’s compliance with the daily routine and structure of the facility during the shift of duty and responsible for maintaining agency standards of quality care and service provision for the youth residing within the facility. The Shift Supervisor will supervise all Youth Counselors, their deployment, and activities, uphold the daily programming, routines, program structure, and tone to support the program model.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the supervision of all on-site staff and person supported.
  • Maintain order, safety, and security standards of the home.
  • Uphold daily living routines, schedules, and procedures through supporting Youth Counselor staff.
  • Mediate conflict, whether between staff or persons supported.
  • Complete all required documentation in a timely fashion, including incident reports.
  • Must be able to carry out all the duties and functions of a Youth Counselors
  • Support the Program Director/APD through informal/formal supervision and by providing staff with ongoing feedback.
  • Maintain the logbook and ensure proper documentation is being completed.
  • Complete shift summaries upon completion of shift
  • Collaborate with PD/AD regarding Youth Counselor’s disciplinary action.
  • Ensure Youth Counselor’s review/ support youth in accordance with their behavior support plan.
  • Manage persons supported behavior utilizing the principles of the MYSI Model with the goal teaching the young people to make positive, lasting changes in their behavior.
  • Ensure a high standard of sanitary conditions throughout the house including heavy cleaning and laundry.
  • Back up group facilitator
  • Participate in the planning and execution of educational, recreational, and personal enrichment activities.
  • Participate in ongoing meetings, conferences, and training programs as required.
  • Communicates frequently with Program Director, Assistant Director, Case Planners, and supporting staff regarding pertinent information about youth.
  • Responsible for providing safe transportation for persons supported and attending various appointments (including driving residents to and from school, medical appointments, and off-site family visits).
  • Attend all mandatory training required by ACS, OCFS and the Agency.
  • Responsible for adhering to all ACS, OCFS and agency regulations.
  • Uphold rules, repertoire of responses, confrontation techniques, application of the restriction system, negotiating restrictions, Force Fields, utilization of Safe Crisis Management techniques when necessary.
  • Manage the peer group, understand peer group dynamics, promote, and maintain a positive peer group culture.
  • Support medical issues, student educational/vocational needs, casework, clinical appointments, etc.
  • Provides documentation of supervision by maintaining a log for all staff supervised.
  • Flexibility to work other shifts based on programmatic needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • High School Diploma required.
  • Valid NYS Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Ability to drive a 10 to 15 passenger van.
  • Prior experience working in a group home required.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills to maintain required documentation.
  • Must have a commitment to work from a strength based and youth development, and trauma-informed perspective.
  • Ability to travel to all five boroughs.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Rising Ground
  • Must be able to pass required Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and pass recertification on an annual basis.

Salary Range $23 - $26/hr.
