About the Role

The Onboarding Supervisor will lead a team of Onboarding Specialists and oversee the end-to-end onboarding process for new hires, transfers, and consultants at Rising Ground. This role is critical in ensuring a seamless and positive onboarding experience that reflects Rising Ground’s values and mission. Reporting to the HR Manager, the Onboarding Supervisor will collaborate closely with the Talent Acquisition team, hiring managers, and other HR functions to ensure that new staff are integrated successfully into the organization. As part of our HR team, this role requires continuous improvement of onboarding processes and adherence to compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

· Supervise a team of Onboarding Specialists to deliver exceptional onboarding experience to our new hires.

· Provide guidance and support to ensure the team meets performance expectations and achieves departmental goals.

· Oversee the entire onboarding process, including pre-employment screening, new hire paperwork, background checks, and orientation scheduling. Ensure all onboarding activities are completed accurately and in a timely manner.

· Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the onboarding process and implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of onboarding activities.

· Conduct regular team meetings to discuss performance metrics, process improvements, and challenges, fostering open communication and collaboration.

· Oversee performance management for the Onboarding team, ensuring regular feedback, development opportunities, and accountability.

· Work closely with Talent Acquisition Specialists to ensure a seamless handoff from candidate selection to onboarding, addressing any issues that arise during the process.

· Collaborate with the Training and Development team to ensure that New Employee Orientation (NEO) is effectively delivered to all new hires.

· Coordinate with hiring managers and other stakeholders to address any onboarding challenges and ensure new hires have the resources they need to succeed.

· Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and organizational policies related to onboarding.

· Oversee the employee background checks process including but not limited to: Fingerprinting appointments, Statewide Central Registry Checks, Sex Offender Registry Checks, SEL, Streamline Verify, and SSN.

· Conduct regular audits of employee files and documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.

· Champion a positive and engaging onboarding experience for all new employees. Ensure that onboarding materials and communications align with the organization's culture and values.

· Oversee the accurate entry and maintenance of employee information in the HRIS (ADP Workforce Now). Ensure that all employee records are up-to-date and compliant with regulatory requirements.

· In collaboration with the HR manager, develop and deliver training for new onboarding specialists to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles effectively.

· Track and report on onboarding metrics to measure the effectiveness of onboarding processes and provide regular updates to HR leadership on the status of onboarding activities.

· Ensure that all candidates are moved through the process in a timely manner, creating a cadence of accountability, and protecting the candidate experience.

· Offer support to the overall HR department, with the ability to travel to different worksites to deliver candidate and employee-focused experiences.

· Perform other related duties as assigned to support the HR department and the organization's goals

· Authorized to work in the U.S.

· Ability to work in-person in New York City (NY) for at least 3 days or more per week.

· Ability to travel to other Rising Ground sites as necessary.

Work Environment:

Corporate Office: This role operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday in our Headquarters at 1333 Broadway office in Midtown Manhattan. Work hours options are 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, 9:30 am - 5:30 pm, 10 am - 6 pm.

Qualifications

· Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

· Minimum of 3 -5 years of experience in Human Resources or Customer Service, with at least 1 year in an onboarding or recruitment role.

· Previous experience in a supervisory or team lead role; with a proven ability to drive team results.

· Strong knowledge of onboarding processes, HRIS systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred), and compliance requirements.

· Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Operate with a high level of accountability and ownership.

· Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.

· High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all work.

· Strong auditing, problem-solving skills and ability to adapt to changing priorities.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.

· Proficiency in business software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite, and Applicant Tracking System (ATS), systems.

Our Compensation & Benefits 

The pay rate for this position is between $55,000 - $65,000/Yr., depending on experience and fit for the role. Rising Ground offers competitive compensation based on the midpoint of the market among not-for-profit organizations of similar size. We believe in compensating staff members fairly in relation to each other, their qualifications, and their impact on behalf of the organization, and take internal and external equity seriously.
