The Unaccompanied Children Long Term Foster Care Program provides a safe and secure placement to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who following an initial placement in an ORR/DUCO care provider facility, and after efforts for the safe and timely release indicated that no sponsor is willing or able to care for the UC, and the UC is expected to have a protracted length of time in ORR care. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, ORR, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in licensed foster homes in the community. We provide therapeutic, medical and educational services, as well as other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as we link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States. We want all children we support to move forward with their lives and thrive.

 

The Medical Coordinator is responsible for the overall medical needs of all unaccompanied children in the LTFC program including scheduling initial medical exams, following up on referrals, and ongoing communication with medical providers to ensure quality medical service delivery as well as receipt of all required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for scheduling, tracking and coordinating all medical and dental services for all youth in the program. 
  • Responsible to collect and track MARS, referrals, ER visits labs and any other medical follow up. 
  • Ensure timely documentation in the ORR portal of all Medical and Health related areas: Initial Medical Form, vaccines, laboratory tests, X-Rays, etc.
  • Submit Child Level Events (CLEs) in the UC Portal for any medical related emergencies. 
  • Track compliance of medical services to ensure children have medical and dental follow up visits as needed and as specify in the ORR policies and procedures. 
  • Request Treatment Authorization Requests (TAR) as needed 
  • Process all medical procedures through ORR for prior approval 
  • Ensuring effective medical care, proper documentation, and reporting of all administration of medication to person served. 
  • Medical billing (Printing out TAR and sending out with invoice for payment or faxing it over to providers). 
  • Faxing over medical documents to providers as needed. 
  • Filling out medical documents to fax to providers for services needed (For new patients especially). 
  • Ensuring we receive all medical paperwork from providers to complete each case for submission for release. 
  • Ensure medication pick up. 
  • Making sure medical forms for each minor are provided to foster parents in case of emergencies. 
  • Ensure medical education is provided to the child and foster parent (if applicable) on any specific medical needs of the child. 
  • Support POH medical with tasks as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned based on program needs.

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus related experience. 
  • Demonstrate responsiveness and ability to work with a culturally diverse population. 
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Strong interpersonal verbal and communication skills  
  • Able to work flexible hours evenings and weekends. 
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a must 

 Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities. The LTFC Medical Coordinator will work independently with guidance and support from their supervisor and other team members, collaborating closely on prompt and quality medical service delivery. 

 

Work Environment:

This role requires four in-office days and one remote day per week, with flexibility for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed (rotation coverage/ schedule applies). The position involves close collaboration with medical providers.
 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position with an annual salary of $70,572.81. The position operates Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for after-hours, weekend, and holiday support as needed.

 

Additional Requirements:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. 

Must have reliable transportation for ongoing travel to meet program needs.
