Overview of the Role   The unaccompanied Alien Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 33 youth in a Basic Shelter program located at our licensed residential facility in Yonkers, NY as well as a Transitional Foster Care Program for 40 youth in certified foster homes in the Bronx. In both programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive. The youth Care Worker is responsible for providing direct services and performs various support tasks as part of the youth’s daily care.   Rising Ground    Founded as an orphanage in 1831, Rising Ground has been at the forefront of evolving community needs. In all programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive. The Teacher’s Aide will provide educational services to the children supported by the POH program and will work in collaboration with the Head Teacher and the team in the service provision.

STEPS To End Family Violence (STEPS) - founded in 1986 by the legendary Sister Mary Nerney - offers a variety of innovative, trauma-informed, anti-oppressive programming focused on the prevention of intimate partner violence; advocacy and healing for survivors; as well as increasing awareness of the epidemic of gender-based violence; and transforming the rhetoric and institutions that sustain such violence. A leading organization in the fight against relationship abuse and teen dating violence since 1996, STEPS is seeking a skilled Community Educator for the Early Relationship Abuse Prevention Program (RAPP). This is a full-time, year-round salaried position. During the academic year, the Early RAPP Community Educator works within 8 New York City Middle Schools. The Community Educator’s role in the schools includes creating and providing education and trainings around issues of relationship abuse, gender-based violence, healthy relationships, and related social issues to students, staff, parents, and the community. As a new initiative, this position also includes an element of program development.
