The Plus Mentoring program is designed to help juvenile probation clients make safe decisions and avoid further involvement in the juvenile justice system. The Plus Mentoring team works along with Department of Probation to provide the highest level of alternative to detention programming for high risk youth, ages 13-18 in the Bronx.   The Plus Mentoring team is a group-based mentoring program that helps young adults transform the attitudes and behaviors that led to their involvement with the criminal justice system by developing positive and appropriate relationships and supporting them in making safe decisions in the community.  The team is made up of a full time Program Coordinator and 4 part-time Credible Messenger mentors.  Youth will come together twice weekly as a cohort of up to 16 youth, ages 13-18, with the Plus Mentoring team supporting them. The mentors will utilize the Powersource Curriculum, Interactive Journaling and Mindfulness practice to support the youth to examine their feelings, evaluate their own behaviors and develop strategies for change.  Youth will also meet with mentors and Program Coordinator on an ad hoc basis throughout the week for one-on-one mentoring as well as for support with case management services.

The Unaccompanied Alien Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 33 youth in a Basic Shelter program located at our licensed residential facility in Yonkers, NY as well as a Transitional Foster Care program for 40 youth in certified foster homes in the Bronx. During the academic year, the Early RAPP Community Educator works within 8 New York City Middle Schools. The Community Educator’s role in the schools includes creating and providing education and trainings around issues of relationship abuse, gender-based violence, healthy relationships, and related social issues to students, staff, parents, and the community. As a new initiative, this position also includes an element of program development. The position reports to a Supervisor.
