The per-diem GroupFacilitator will lead the facilitation of the Respect and Responsibility curriculum for groups of people who have caused harm to their intimate partners. The Facilitator will be essential in creating a welcoming, non-judgmental, and empathic environment that centers trust, vulnerability, and healthy relationships. They will be an active part of informing, adapting, and enhancing the curriculum. This is an exciting and demanding opportunity for someone looking to be an instrumental part of a process that will generate evidence that can fundamentally shift the way New York City offers voluntary services to people who cause harm to their intimate partner. Recognizing that engaging abusive partners in non-mandated programming is a critical opportunity to provide interventions to people who cause harm to their partners, New York City developed the Interrupting Violence at Home (IVAH) initiatives, to implement abusive partner intervention programming in communities. A key program of IVAH is Respect and Responsibility, a non-mandated program for adults who have caused harm to their intimate partners. Respect and Responsibility seeks to establish an evidence-base and ensure a program design that maintains a focus on survivor safety and survivors’ experiences while being tailored to address the complex needs of people who cause harm and encourage behavior change. Respect and Responsibility uses a program model that includes multi-hour and multi-week interventions, along with individualized assessments, case management, counseling and other supportive services for people who cause harm.
