The Unaccompanied Alien Children Program provides temporary residential care and other supportive services to Unaccompanied Children (UC) who are under legal custody of the Federal Government. Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, the POH program provides a safe and nurturing environment for 439 youth as well as therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they are able to move forward with their lives and thrive.    Rising Ground    Founded as an orphanage in 1831, Rising Ground has been at the forefront of evolving community needs. Coaches are paired with up to 15 - 20 young people and work with each of them from 9th grade (or age 14, if they are disconnected from school) to age 21, regardless of their academic status. Coaches build trusting, long-term relationships with young people. Once the relationship between a Coach and young person is established, the overall goal is to support the young person to: - Graduate high school. - Persist in a post-secondary setting. - Build progressive career development experiences in line with their interests, strengths, and academic/vocational plans that will help them navigate onto a living wage career pathway. - Successfully navigate the transition into adulthood (and into independent living, for those young people who are aging out).

The Direct Support Professional provides person centered supports based on the individual’s needs, preferences and choices.  DSPs perform a wide variety of tasks and activities based on the valued outcomes of each person they work with, and reflecting the specific skills and abilities of each individual.  DSPs encourage, guide and offer training to develop daily living skills, ensuring personal needs are met, promoting active engagement in the community life and ensuring health and safety. DSPs create a positive and enriching program environment for all persons supported. Direct Support Professionals are a vital member of each person’s support team. DSP’s are expected to know, understand and live the Code of Ethics.   Distinguishing Characteristics Direct Support Professionals work under the supervision of a Supervisor/ Manager/Assistant Manager/Supervisor. DSPs provide an array of supports to individuals with Developmental Disabilities (ID/DD), individuals who have dual diagnosis, and/ or individuals on the autism spectrum.  Supports provided may be offered in a residential, day, home or other setting.  DSPs assist and support individuals to identify and achieve their personal outcome measures (POMs).  DSPs motivate individuals to develop their vocational, nutritional, social and personal skills to achieve the highest possible level of independence. All supports are offered in positive settings, that are the least restrictive possible.   Demonstrative Duties Direct Support Professionals provide observations, evaluations, and reports to other team members to ensure and/or record an individual’s progress toward their personal goals, in accordance with their individual support plans. In doing this, they guide, assist and teach individuals to advance their skills to foster an independence based on their needs, preferences and desires.   Communication As a member of the program planning team, Direct Support Professionals communicate with other DSPs, supervisors and/or clinical staff, Individuals, families, employers, community members and others for the purpose of sharing information and obtaining direction. DSP’s have a significant role in terms of communication and ensuring important information is exchanged. Communication is expected to be professional, whether in writing or verbally, and must always adhere to the organization’s confidentiality policies and procedures.

Working in collaboration with the federal Office of Refugee Resettlement, ORR, our program provides a safe and nurturing environment for youth in a Basic Shelter program, and the Therapeutic Group Home programs located at our licensed residential facility in Yonkers, NY as well as a Transitional Foster Care program and the Long-Term Foster CareProgram located in foster homes in the Bronx and Westchester. In all programs, we provide therapeutic and educational services and other supports that youth need to achieve success through an array of strength-based and targeted interventions as well as link them with family members and/or other sponsors in the United States so they can move forward with their lives and thrive. The main responsibility of the Porter is to maintain the cottages clean, sanitized and inspection ready.

The Children’s Learning Center is a licensed preschool special education program serving students between the ages of 2.9 – 5 years of age in a special class model.
